Medical Speech to Text makes "Huge Difference" for Gloucestershire NHS

Background

VoicePower started working with Gloucestershire NHS Trust in 2018. Since then, we assisted with rolling out over 300 Dragon speech recognition licenses to various departments including Cardiology, Dermatology, Pathology and Acute Medicine.

Taking a forward-thinking approach to clinical documentation, the Trust has been using Dragon Medical One to reduce pressures on staff, improve the patient experience and save resources.

 

The Acute Medicine department

Prior to working with VoicePower, the Acute Medicine team were using a digital dictation system, however they still found themselves with a backlog of letters to process.

Working with Paul Vincent, VoicePower’s Professional Services Manager, Nicole Nickleson, General Manager of the Acute Medicine team, has been pivotal in the deployment of Dragon Medical One in the department.

With 18 Dragon users to date, the department has been using speech to text since 2023 to create letters.

The secretaries are now able to proofread letters via Dragon that the consultants dictate instead of manually transcribing dictations onto Digi which save them a huge amount of time. They have told me it has helped to reduce and streamline their workload.

Most of our Consultants now heavily rely on Dragon now too and find it a lot easier to use than anything we have used previously.
