Nursing Technology Fund provide free NHS funding – second round
In October 2012 the Prime Minister announced the establishment of a Nursing Technology Fund to support nurses, midwives and health visitors to make better use of digital technology in all care settings, in order to deliver safer, more effective and more efficient care.
In the first round FY13/14, 74 Trusts were awarded funding totalling almost £30m for 85 projects. Over £500,000 was awarded to projects which were focused around the implementation of speech recognition solutions.
Submit your application
Expressions of interest for funding have been gathered and this will form part of the prospectus for the second round of funding. Even if you haven’t submitted an expression of interest you can still apply for funding.
Application criteria
All projects approved in the first round projected a ‘Value For Money’ return greater than 2:1, with almost half projecting a return of at least 4:1. Of the successful projects, 90% will provide solutions for nurses, 23% for midwives, and 10% for health visitors. It is expected that the prospectus for funding will be available by the end of June 2014.
Speech recognition solutions fall into the category of ‘Digital capture of clinical data at point-of-care’. By implementing speech recognition solutions data capture can be quick, easy and mobile (even for those who can’t type!)
